Austin, Texas online newspaper Statesman.com provided on Monday some additional information about the U.S. Grand Prix to be held in that region.
The paper announced that Steve Sexton, former track president of Churchill Downs, has been hired as president of the F1 United States Grand Prix and its facility.
The paper said “Sexton has an extensive background in horse racing and promotions and was a vice president/assistant general manager at Lone Star Park in 1994.”
The paper also posted a bad quality cell phone photo of the building site where the new road circuit will be built.
It said “By the sign you can see a couple of the white pickups that roam the site and one of the bulldozers. There’s now about a half dozen machines a lot bigger than the bulldozer visible from Farm-to-Market 812.”
“In case you are unable to read the sign says, “World Class Performance and Innovation Center. Formula 1. United States. Austin, Texas 2012.”
