Timo Glock checked out of hospital on Wednesday after having his appendix removed.

Following a sudden bout of appendicitis, the 28-year-old German driver had keyhole surgery on Tuesday in a Swiss hospital.

"To ensure a swift recovery, it is unlikely that he will take part in next week's test in Barcelona and that Jerome (d'Ambrosio) will run on all four days instead," said John Booth.

"It's a shame that I'll probably miss the tests in Barcelona," Timo Glock said, although he was sure he would be fit for the season opener in Melbourne later this month.

"Without an appendix I'm certain to be faster - I mean, it must have weighed a few grams at least!" he joked.

John Booth admitted it is possible Glock will be well enough to drive in Barcelona, with Virgin's programme kicking off next Tuesday. "We will make a final decision early next week. We look forward to having Timo back with us very soon."

Timo Glock wrote on Twitter late on Wednesday. "Great news, (I) can leave hospital today! (Going) straight back home but unfortunately (for) more recovery (so) no training! That's boring!"
