Untouchable, the reigning world champion clinched his fourth consecutive pole position in 2011. The new rear wing seams working for Mercedes, Nico Rosberg is third and Michael Schumacher (eighth) finally reached Q3 this season.
Lewis Hamilton is fourth and Jenson Button sixth. The two McLaren are split by Fernando Alonso who set the fifth best lap with his Ferrari 150 Italia. Felipe Massa didn't set a time in Q3. Not quick enough, Ferrari preferred to save the soft tires for the race.
Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld set respectively the seventh and nineth best times with their Lotus Renault
Jerome d'Ambrosio, who qualified 20th, will start from the back of the grid due to a penalty picked up during Friday practice for speeding under yellow flag. He'll be alongside Kamui Kobayashi, who had troubles with the engine of his Sauber-Ferrari.
