Valentino Rossi's forthcoming test in a 2008-spec Ferrari appears on track, despite the reigning MotoGP champion's visit to hospital on Thursday with an inflamed appendix.

The 30-year-old is scheduled to drive the 2008 Ferrari at Barcelona next week as a reward for his latest title, and Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport said he visited the team's Maranello headquarters on Friday.

Rossi reportedly drove a 458 Italia road car on the Fiorano test track and "organised the final details" of his Barcelona test, the sports newspaper added.

La Gazzetta said the nine-time world motorcycle champion "seems to have fully recovered" from Thursday's appendix scare.
