We reported last week that over 12 million additional vehicles would be recalled to fix their passenger-side airbag inflators that were made by Takata. Today, we’ve learned that around 400,000 of the 4.3 million Fiat Chrysler units affected by this latest recall are in Canada.
The propellant contained in the front passenger’s frontal airbag can degrade slowly due to Canadian climate conditions. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk, and is expected to replace airbag inflators before their function would be affected.
