The wait is over for the electric version of the Hyundai Kona. This week Hyundai Canada delivered the first Kona Electric in Canada to a couple of long-time Hyundai owners in Valleyfield, Quebec. Residents of Valleyfield not far from Montreal, Manon St-Yves and Guy Audet have the distinction of being the very first owners of the long-awaited small electrified SUV in Canada.
From the Accent to the Santa Fe… to the Kona Electric
Manon St-Yves and Guy Audet have owned eight different Hyundai vehicles over the past 25 years, from the Accent to the Santa Fe. This time, the couple decided to go for a more eco-friendly vehicle to help do their part for the environment. On hearing the first details of the coming electric Kona, they quickly understood that this would be the perfect vehicle to meet their needs. The electric-car rebate offered by the provincial government in Quebec further helped them decide it was time to make the leap into electric.
First electric sub-compact SUV in Canada
The 2019 Kona Electric is the first electric sub-compact SUV to appear on the Canaidan market, and it features a range of 415 km on a full charge. The all-electric version joins the gas-engine Kona, which debuted in 2018.
“We wanted to buy a vehicle that was better ecologically and has good fuel economy. We were also looking for an SUV. Hyundai completely answered our needs with the new Kona Electric.”
- Guy Audet
Manon St-Yves and Guy Audet officially took possession of their new vehicle at the Hyundai dealership in Valleyfield, Quebec. Don Romano, president and CEO of Hyundai Canada, was on hand to help mark the occasion.
The Hyundai Kona Electric is now available at selected dealerships across Canada.
