When Ford started building the Edge and MKX crossovers in its Oakville, Ontario assembly plant last November, the company temporarily halted production of the Freestar.
Although the minivan production was to resume in the beginning of 2007, Ford decided it was best to pull the plug earlier than expected.
The strong demand for the Edge and MKX has made the decision easier to take, since restarting production of the Freestar would have compromised the supply of the new crossovers.
