Ford has lifted the veil on the latest arrival in the F-150 lineup, the Raptor SVT. After months of production delays, the SVT is once again joining the pool of production vehicles.

Style-wise, the Raptor is very different from the regular production model. Immediately apparent is the imposing grille proudly displaying the manufacturer's name across its length, updated headlamps and integrated taillamps. It also features a slew of badges, both inside and outside the colour-coordinated cabin.

The bumpers are more aggressive and energetic, and it's inherited several performance features, such as functional side and hood air vents. To improve off-road stability, its track has been widened by 7 inches and rides on special 17-inch wheels shod in 35-inch tires.

As for its capabilities, the suspension offers ground clearance rarely equalled in its class: 13,4 inches in back and 11,2 inches in front. Power comes from Ford's potent 5.4-litre, 320-hp V8, and a 6.2-litre V8 will eventually be available for increased load-carrying capacity.

The Raptor will be assembled in Michigan alongside its F-150 brethren. Ford hasn't confirmed pricing or availability at the moment, but we can assume that it'll hit dealerships in the spring of 2009.
