is riding a wave of consumer enthusiasm for the first time in a long time, for its car division at least. Why such excitement about the new car? Not only does the 2005 Mustang look completely revised on the surface, while at the same time very similar to classic '60s pony cars that so many muscle car collectors adore, but it is also completely new under the skin.

Director of Ford Racing Technology, announced a new performance parts and competition program for the car. At the Specialty Equipment Manufacturer's Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Davis unveiled a race specification 2005 Mustang during its press conference. Painted in Bud Moore "orange and black" livery, and including legendary racer Parnelli Jones' number 15, pulling cues from his Mustang Boss 302 Trans Am car, it was a sight to stir old motorsport memories.

"The Mustang is synonymous with performance modifications and competitive racing," Davis said. "It has an unparalleled pedigree in many forms of racing, and the all-new 2005 Mustang makes a terrific platform to continue that history of racing competition and victories."
