People who aren't into trucks will look at the 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew and see just another pickup, but Truckies will see a vehicle that fills a considerable gap in the huge full-size segment .

That is to say, it's the only under-3855-kg gross vehicle weight pickup with four full-size doors, seats for six adults, an optional sunroof, and a 1524-mm bed with an extender, and the only pickup of any size with power-adjustable pedals.

Or so Ford of Canada hopes as it readies the truck for a February launch.

Offered in both XLT and Lariat trims, the F-150 SuperCrew is the same overall length as the 3530-mm wheelbase SuperCab model, but it uses more of that length (305 mm, to be exact) for the cab than the storage bed.

The relative size of the cab and the bed was the subject of considerable research, and the response from work and personal use customers was overwhelming, says Al Giombetti, Ford Truck group brand manager.

"Customers said they truly appreciated the extra interior space, not only for people, but for clean, dry and secure storage for things such as tools and groceries," Giombetti says. "Offering a more user friendly, comfortable interior while maintaining pickup versatility is a swift answer to a new customer demand."

SuperCrew has 1251 cubic liters of cargo capacity and the standard payload of 800 kg is the same as F-150 SuperCab.
