During the making, Ford's designers went for something that would be safe as well as fast, so that Formula Ford series around the world could continue fostering new talents without putting them to risks.
This meant they integrated several new safety features: a tubular chassis, front and rear carbon fibre crash structure, and side intrusion panels among others to the current racer.

But they 'Fordified' the recipe even more. The car now uses the production-based 1.6 liter turbocharged Ecoboost I-4, and the new body was shaped using Ford's current global kinetic design theme.
Under FIA regulations, the small power plant will produce 163-hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The car will also be fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
