Chris Vlok and Nathan Blok took advantage of two mechanical failures that prevented Xavier Coupal from finishing a single race during the weekend to each take a win at the Contiental Sundown held at circuit ICAR.

Coupal, who was recently drafted by Team Canada to race in the British Formula Ford Festival, suffered an engine failure on Saturday. Sunday, a broken throttle cable forced him to the sidelines.

This left Vlok and Blok trading first places over the weekend. Vlok came out on top Saturday and Blok took top honors Sunday.

Olivier Bonnet finished second on Saturday, with Blok and Didier Schraenen following closely behind.

Sunday, Blok finished first ahead of Schraenen, Vlok and Sergio Pasian.

Coupal was not the only one who experienced difficulties that day. Bonnet suffered some engine problems as well, but luckily for him, his father Michel stepped out of his car to let him enter the second race of the weekend.

The ensuing fifth place Olivier scored turned out to be crucial in the championship hunt. Blok's win has put him in first place in the standings, but Bonnet trails by only three points.

In the Masters class, electrical problems forced Guy Gilain to concede first place to Franc Roiron on Saturday. He was able to finish second, nonetheless, he took his revenge – and the win – Sunday. Patrick Sweeney and Jean Lajoie completed the podium.
