Remy Audette was the only driver to break the 1:52 mark around the Gilles Villeneuve circuit to snatch pole position for the Formula Tour 1600 race that will be held Sunday as part od the NAPA Auto Parts 200 NASCAR event.

Audette, who drives a Van Diemen RF01, was the fastest in the morning during the free practice session.

Michel and Olivier Bonnet, father and son, will start the race in second and third places in their Vectors MG95 and 96.

Young sensation Nathan Blok (Van Diemen 97) caused a surprise in taking fourth place on the grid in front of the vastly experienced Didier Schraenen (CMV 97).

Steve Pickering, Jérimy Daniel, Luc Théroux, Élie Arsenault and another veteran, Marcel Lafontaine, completed the top 10.

Xavier Coupal, the winner of the race held here in June at the Canadian Grand Prix, set the second time this morning and failed to scored one timed lap in qualifying.

The 20-lap or 30-minute race will go green at 10am Sunday.
