Holland's Christijan Albers will be back on track in a DTM Audi A4 car this week after being pushed aside of the Spyker F1 team last summer by a lack of sponsorship.

Albers has been invited to drive a 2006-spec Audi at the Almeira circuit, in Spain, while the Audi's satellite teams Phoenix and Futurecom TSE are conducting tests to fill the four vacant seats still available for the 2008 season.

Ironically, Albers raced in the DTM touring car series from 2001 up till 2004 but with archrival Mercedes-Benz. He did quite well, winning five races in total and finishing runner-up in 2003.

The Eindhoven native is believed to be in contention for a non-works Audi race seat in the 2008 DTM series. He is scheduled to test for the Futurecom team, run by his former Spyker boss Colin Kolles, as well as Phoenix.
