The BMW Motorrad Canada Superbike squad had a successful test at the JenningsGP track in north Florida on April 14 and 15. The private session marked the debut of the new factory-backed S1000RR Superbike for 2010, the team working towards an official debut at the opening round of the 2010 Parts Canada Superbike Championship at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec on May 28 to 30.

Two time Parts Canada Superbike National Champion Francis Martin and rising star Michael Ferreira handled the riding duties at JenningsGP, and will race the new S1000RR during the 2010 National tour.  The BMW team is headed by former National Champion racer and top tuner Patrice Goyette, joining BMW Canada's established road race staff.

Although lap times were not released, long time Superbike front runner Martin commented that "I went as fast as I ever have here at Jennings, and when I was here before, I was on bikes with lots of development.  So far I am really happy with the S1000RR, I think we have everything we need to do a good job this season."

"It was great to work with the crew on the new bikes, learn all about the technical elements of the S1000RR, and see our real potential.  Now I really feel like it's my bike, and I can't wait to race.  It's nice to work with Patrice again too," continued Martin, who has shared success with this tuner in the past.

For Ferreira, two days in the warm, windy and dusty conditions at JenningsGP offered a chance to ride a full-blown Superbike for the first time. Ferreira added that "I had set some goals for myself, as I wanted to steadily improve, and understand the basic set-up for the new bike.  I think this was the perfect situation for me, and I got a chance to work with Francis, take advantage of his experience."

BMW Marketing man, Chris Duff, was well pleased with the test.  "It couldn't really go any better. The bikes were reliable, there were no technical issues, and we were fast.  We look forward to showing off our new bikes to all the fans."
