Though they aren't likely to be on dealer lots for a couple of months yet, the quartet of 2000 model sport-utility vehicles from Chevrolet and GMC have been stickered by GM of Canada.
Those would be the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon models, which are fairly large and fairly similar, and the even larger Chevrolet Suburban and its fraternal twin, the Yukon XL (which used to be sold as the GMC Suburban).
The base 4x2 Chevrolet Tahoe, which used to start at $31,555 and used to come with only two doors, has been completely revised for 2000 and now starts at $32,265 and now comes only with four doors.
To get a Tahoe with 4x4, the sticker price is $35,675.
Tahoe LS 4x2 is $38,725, while the same trim in 4x4 is $42,135. The upscale LT trim is $46,775 as a 4x2 model and $50,185 as a 4x4.
GMC Yukon sticker prices start at $32,615 for an 4X2 SL. The previous base price for this marque was 38,915, which was only a 2-door but with a lot more equipment in a higher-priced trim so the comparison isn't very apt.
Other 2000 Yukon models include the 4x4 SL at $35,975, the SLE at $38,985 in 4x2 and $42,345 in 4x4, and the SLT at $47,035 for the 4x2 and $50,395 for the 4x4.
Chevrolet Suburban prices used to start at $34,620 for a 1500 Series 4x2. Now they start at $36,105 for the same basic package, though with more equipment.
A sampling of other Suburban prices (there are 12 models in all) would include $39,515 for the 4x4 1500 Series half-ton (the least-expensive all-wheel-drive model), $43,285 for the LS 4x2 half-ton and $46,695 for the LS 4x4 half-ton, and $45,175 for the 2500 Series LS three-quarter ton in 4x2 and $48,820 for the same model with 4x4.
Yukon XL starts at $36,455 for a 4x2 half-ton in SL trim, which is up from the $34.620 sticker it carried in 1999 as a Suburban.
Other MSRPs for what GMC likes to call a "professional" line of SUVs (and which makes them slightly more expensive than a similar Suburban model) would include $39,815 for the half-ton SL with 4x4, $43,545 for a half-ton 4x2 SLE, $46,905 for a half-ton 4x4 SLE, $52,385 for the 2500 Series three-quarter ton 4x2 SLT and $55,980 for the same fully-packaged model with 4x4.
