Oshawa, ON — GM Canada extends its sincere appreciation to the CAW leadership for its forthright commitment and determination in reaching today's tentative agreement which was required to meet competitive cost benchmarks and the expectations of the Ontario and Federal governments for significant further reductions in the company's longer term liabilities.
The tentative agreement is a critical step forward toward ensuring GM's future in Canada and to further the demonstrated industry leadership GM Canada's employees continue to demonstrate in manufacturing quality, productivity, safety and environmental excellence. GM Canada will continue to work tirelessly with the governments and our other key partners to complete our broader restructuring activities in Canada and maintain our automotive sales leadership in Canada.
