Plenty happened during the first lap of the race as Grosjean's bad start profited Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi. Andreas Zuber was third and Romain Grosjean, 4th.

When Zuber went a little wide, seconds later, Giorgio Pantano and Grosjean passed him right before Pantano was passed by Grosjean who began fighting hard with di Grassi.

Meanwhile, Michael Herck was stalled on the grid and Alvaro Parente spun at turn 8. After Bruno Senna was passed by di Grassi and Grosjean when he went too wide, Sebastien Buemi was hit by Pastor Maldonado.

On lap 7, Roldan Rodriguez and Mike Conway had already pitted and most of the drivers were going too in the couple following laps, including Kobayashi, Valles,  Zuber, d'Ambrosio, Buurman and Maldonado.

A beautiful move saw Karun Chandhok passed Luca Filippi, in front. Di Grassi was still leading ahead of Grosjean and Pantano, hardly endling Senna behind him.

Couple of minutes passed, Filippi pitted and Pantano realised one of the best looking overtaking of the year so far, on Grosjean.

Pantano was then so fast on the track that he set the fastest time. After that, he was all over di Grassi... which he finally overtook, despite a couple raindrops on the track.

Maldonado crashed in turn 7 and almost took Petrov down with him. Podium was, then, Pantano, di Grassi and Grosjean. It was before the Frenchman had problems with his tires and battled with Chandhok to keep his position!

During that time, Senna and Buemi were battling their proper position, not far from Grosjean, who, ultimaly, was passed by Buemi and Senna, in order.

In the last corner, finally, Grosjean was able to take his position back from Senna, but not from Buemi, that finished 4th.
