Sergio Perez and Davide Valsecchi captured a win each in the last rounds of the GP2 season in Abu Dhabi, while Rappax clinched the teams’ title.

In race 1, Perez, next year’s Sauber F1 driver vaulted into the lead ahead of poleman Oliver Turvey. However, the race was soon neutralized behind Safety Car after Adrian Zaugg’s accident.

At the restart, Perez pulled away from the pack again and took the win with a 21-second margin over Turvey.

Sam Bird and Dani Clos had great recoveries, as both men were forced to start from the back of the grid after having being penalized in qualifying. Bird and Clos started respectively from 18th and 11th spots on the grid, and moved up to 3rd and 4th at the end of the race, after Clos failed to take the last podium position versus Bird.

In the second race of the meeting, Davide Valsecchi started from fourth, and was able to take the lead at the end of lap one after a great fight with Luiz Razia and Romain Grosjean.

The Italian driver went on to win his first race since 2008, beating Razia and Grosjean at the flag.

Pastor Maldonado had already clinched the drivers’ championship before the last two rounds in Abu Dhabi, but the teams’ title had to be decided between Rapax and Addax.

Rapax team n°1 driver Pastor Maldonado had a poor weekend in Abu Dhabi but his team finally clinched the championship thanks to Luiz Razia’s second place in race 2. Winner in race 1, Sergio Perez was forced to retire in the second round.
