Giedo Van der Garde has the fastest time of the second and final day of group tests of the GP2 Asia Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The Dutch ended the day with a best time in 1'48''499. He beat Sam Bird and Jules Bianchi, the latter having previously set the fastest time in the morning session.
The session was cut short after the violent accident of James Jakes, fifteen minutes from the end of the day. The driver was not injured, but the impact had destroyed the barriers, forcing the officials to stop the session, and preventing the other drivers to have a last run on a set of new tires.
The GP2 Asia championship, which will only stage three rounds this winter, will start on February 11 and 12 in Abu Dhabi, before making two stops in Bahrain, February 18-19 and and March 12-13.
