Grimsby will soon have a commuter parking lot with GO Transit park and ride facilities to make it easier for Niagara tourists and residents to choose green transportation options.

This joint investment between the Province of Ontario and Metrolinx includes:
·Carpool / park and ride facilities with about 200 parking spots, with potential future expansion for an additional 100 spaces.

·A bus loop complete with two bus bays and platforms designated for GO Bus service.

·A heated bus shelter, bicycle rack, and a kiss & ride drop off area.

·Facility lighting and identification signs.

·Public art installation.

The project will be located at the city's South Service Road and Casablanca Boulevard and is expected to be completed by September 2009. GO Bus service will begin October 2009 and take passengers from Burlington to Niagara Falls, with stops in Grimsby and St. Catharines.

·The $1.2-million construction contract was awarded to Rankin Construction Incorporated of St. Catharines.
