Ford is the master of special editions, and each new version brings the manufacturer a little closer to buyers' hearts. Two new versions of the F-450 Super Duty have been announced for 2009.
The lineup of Harley-Davidson editions, comprised of the F-250 and F-350, just got bigger with the addition of the colossal F-450. As with the other Harley versions, it's all about style. The F-450 stands out with its blue flames leaping out of the side vents and licking down the side of the truck. The blue hue makes another appearance in the instrument panel, and bits of blue leather dress up the seats and centre armrest.
But the real news is the coming of the Cabela's FX4 edition. Like the Harley-Davidson versions, the idea for this edition stemmed from the tendency of F Series buyers to be outdoor enthusiasts. Cabela's is in fact the largest outdoor outfitter in the world. With nearly 76% of its clients active outdoors, the impact is huge and very targeted.
The Cabela's edition will be offered in five two-tone colour combinations. The other main visual cues are model badges on the body and four-season floor mats as well as special storage compartments.
