TORONTO - With a full redesign for 2002 and a base MSRP of $26,900, the CR-V provides more engine power, more interior room, enhanced safety technology and increased comfort, without losing the functionality and exterior size of the present model. The new Honda CR-V is powered by a 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine delivering 160 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 162 lb.-ft. of torque at 3600 rpm - an increase of 10 and 22 percent, respectively. While the new CR-V produces more power, fuel economy has increased and exhaust emissions have been reduced over the 2001 model.

New safety features include four-wheel disc brakes with standard ABS, the LATCH Child Restraint Anchorage System, and three-point seatbelts and head restraints in all five occupant positions. EX models also receive standard side airbags with occupant size and position sensors. The 2002 CR-V is expected to achieve a five-star rating by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration for frontal and side-impact collisions.

For passenger comfort, interior volume has increased by 8 percent while exterior length has been increased by only 27 mm and exterior width by 32 mm.
