TORONTO (November 26, 2001) - Honda Canada has announced it will begin selling a Canadian-exclusive 2002 Honda Civic Sedan Sport Edition next month to commemorate the company's two-millionth vehicle sold in Canada. "Two million sales is a major accomplishment in our history," said Kalim Ansari, Executive Vice President of Honda Canada Inc. This historic milestone was reached on October 26, 2001.

The Civic Sedan Sport Edition builds upon the current 2002 Civic Sedan LX model and adds 15" alloy sport wheels, front skirt, two side skirts, a rear skirt, rear spoiler and front nose wind deflector carrying the Civic Sport badge. These upgrades represent a value of approximately $3,700 based on the suggested retail prices of Honda Genuine Accessories. However, the retail price is only $1,400 over the regular LX Sedan price.

Limited to production of only 2,000 units, the 2002 Honda Civic Sedan Sport Edition will be available early December for $20,500 with a 5-speed manual transmission (or $21,500 with a 4-speed automatic transmission). The Civic Sport Edition will be available only in Nighthawk Black Pearl or Satin Silver Metallic exterior colours.

Regarding Honda Canada's sales success, a key element of its automotive growth in Canada has been the production of Honda and Acura vehicles in North America. "It is Honda's philosophy to build products close to where they are sold," said Ansari. "In this way we can more effectively cater to the changing needs of our customers and positively contribute to the socio-economic values of the society."
