News has been circulating around various automotive websites that Honda would discontinue the sale of the Civic Hybrid and the Insight due to slow sales. In a press release sent to the media last night, Honda Canada Public Relations Manager Richard Jacobs assures that the automaker will continue to provide these cars as long as there is a demand for them, and that the rumours are not founded.
Honda does admit that there is a 6-month supply of these vehicles in their dealerships, so sales are well under expectations. This explains why there is no 2010 Civic Hybrid, as several 2009s are still sitting on dealer lots.
Mr. Jacobs also said that there will be 2011 editions of both the Civic Hybrid and the Insight, in addition of the new CR-Z hybrid. Honda will also unveil the Jazz/Fit Hybrid at the Paris Motor Show in September.
