Auto Express and a member of germancarforum.com seem to have gotten privileged information from BMW, saying that the German manufacturer will be displaying a featherweight version of the 1 M Coupe at the next Tokyo Motor Show.
Similar to the 1 Series tii prototype, the concept car will reportedly demonstrate how the 1 M could evolve, an ultra light chassis and body equipping a production vehicle instead of a race-bred machine.
The event will help showcase BMW’s expertise in terms of engineering, material manufacturing and performance.
Auto Express believes that combining the lightweight architecture with the 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, twin turbo mill currently in use would ensure an affordable final product, increasing the chances of a go-ahead from BMW execs for limited production.
