The Kill it With Fire blog revealed some juicy tidbits about the powertrain specs of the upcoming Audi S6 and S8.
Both vehicles will reportedly feature 4.0-litre, TFSI V8s. The turbocharged S6 will churn out 416 ponies and include a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission, while the S8’s twin-turbo affair will generate a total of 518 hp and be mated to an eight-speed autobox.
So the S6 will be the only one to inherit a V8 mill in the A6 lineup. A similar position was adopted for the S4, the exclusive recipient of a V6 engine amid its four-cylinder A4 brethren.
Currently, Canadians can’t get their hands on any new S8s in dealerships, but it’s highly likely that the model will be back by the end of 2012 or the beginning of 2013. The blog also claims that production of both models will be launched at the end of the year, and we should expect to see them featured at an auto show soon.
