The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has just announced the latest vehicle to receive the coveted Top Safety Pick rating: the 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe joins 20 other cars, SUVs and minivans on the list. The Hyundai SUV is the second product from the Korean company to earn a spot on the amongst the award winners: the Hyundai Entourage minivan and its twin, the Kia Sedona, are the only two minivans on the list.

The redesigned Santa Fe, both inside and out, has much improved crash performance and electronic stability control is a standard feature; these are the necessary ingredients to earn a nod from the Institute.

In the small and midsize SUVs regarded by the Institute as Top Picks, the Santa Fe competes with the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester and to a lesser degree, the Honda Pilot and the Ford Edge.
