Andretti Autosports had a hard time trying to get all its drivers on the starting grid for the Indianapolis 500 and, in the end, Mike Conway and Ryan Hunter-Reay both failed.
As for Danica Patrick, Alex Lloyd and Marco Andretti they were only able to get among the 33 starters at the end of Bump Day which was interruped by rain in the afternoon.
Once the rain had stop and the conditions were acceptable, the track reopened for a final hour, that is when Patrick got herself onto the grid with a run good for 26th place.
But for Mike Conway,things did not looked good as he was never able to get enough speed from his car to get into the field.
Meanwhile, Marco Andretti was on the bubble in 33rd place when Dale Coyne Racing's Alex Lloyd produced a lap good enough to jump back in 31st.
Andretti was able to get out on track with just a minute to spare. A spectacular run then took him into the field in 28th place, but at the expense of his Andretti team-mate Hunter-Reay, who had been shuffled down to 33rd amid the late changes and will now miss the Indy 500.
Big name drivers who had managed to make the cut earlier in the day included Ganassi's Graham Rahal and Charlie Kimball, Paul Tracy (Dreyer & Reinbold), and Penske's Ryan Briscoe.
