Michael Shank Racing (MSR) is expected to announce in the upcoming days that it will join the IZOD Indycar Series in 2012, while maintaining its successful program in Grand-Am.
After trying his hands at driving in the former IRL some years ago, Shank has purchased a 2012 Dallara chassis with the goal of fielding a full-time IndyCar Series program next season.
Michael Shank Racing's current stable of Daytona Prototypes will continue to run in Grand-Am, with Shank growing his team by fielding dual programs.
The team is expected to use Judd engines in 2012, and driver announcement isn't expected until early next year.
