According to reliable sources, Lotus is about to increase its involvement in the IZOD IndyCar series.

Lotus would be about to announce their arrival as an engine supplier in 2012 with a unit most likely to be built by Cosworth.

Lotus, already involved in the series with KV Racing Technology had already revealed that it would build its own aero package for 2012, but now they want to go one step further.

A week after General Motors announced it would be returning to IndyCar competition in 2012 under the new regulations, Group Lotus has now joined Honda and Chevrolet to give the series three sources of power.

It is believed that the news will be released Thursday during a press conference held at the Los Angeles Auto Show with IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard.
