There will be a couple of well-known returnees to the IZOD IndyCar Series as Buddy Rice and Hideki Mutoh are set to return to action in the coming weeks.
Panther Racing has announced today that former Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Rice will return to the team in the No. 44 entry for the upcoming IZOD IndyCar Series events at Kentucky Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Rice ended a two-plus year IndyCar hiatus to make his first career start for Panther in this season’s 100th Anniversary Running of the Indianapolis 500, where he qualified in the seventh position and finished 18th.
Also, veteran driver Hideki Mutoh will drive the No. 17 Honda Formula Dream AFS/SSM Racing car in the Sept. 17 Indy Japan 300 on the road course at Twin Ring Motegi.
Mutoh, a veteran of 52 IndyCar starts and native of Tokyo, will be a teammate to Canadian driver Alex Tagliani, who drives the No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara/Honda/Firestone car for Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM).
