According to people close to the former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, it is more than certain that she won't take part in next year's edition of the Indianapolis 500, in order to focus only on her NASCAR career.

Patrick joined NASCAR on a full-time basis this year and has already missed this year's Indy 500. However, she declared she would attempt, if possible, to compete again in the event in 2013.

But, it looks as though those plans will be halted since her boss at Stewart-Haas Racing has questioned recently the wisdom of running on the same day both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca Cola 600 at Charlotte.

As a rookie, Danica Patrick fought for victory in her very first Indy 500, becoming the first woman to lead laps while finishing fourth. She was a career-best third in 2009.
