At the end of the one-day test that was held at Infineon Raceway,  California, Target Chip Ganassi’s Dario Franchitti ended up with the fastest time of the 13 drivers.

The 2011 IndyCar champion posted a time of 1m17.1 around the 12-turn, 2.303-mile road course. Two of his teammates followed him in order as Charlie Kimball (1m17.4) took second in front of Graham Rahal (1m17.5).

KV Racing Technology drivers, E.J Viso (1m17.80) and Tony Kanaan (1m17.84) completed the top five.

Their teammate and series' newcomer, former F1 driver Rubens Barichello, ended up sixth, admitting that he would like to spend more time on this tricky road course.

Team Penske’s Will Power (1m18.5), Ryan Briscoe (1m18.8) and Helio Castroneves (1m20.9) also took part in the timed sessions.

Andretti Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Marco Andretti were also present but both Hinchcliffe and Andretti suffered engines issues.

While Andretti didn’t complete one timed lap, the team had to change Hinchcliffe's engine and he will therefore be dropped 10 spots on the grid at the Long Beach race.
