Sarah Fisher Racing's Ed Carpenter made quite an impresion today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway by earning top spot at the end of the first day of practice for the upcoming Indianapolis 500.
From time to time, the 6-hour long practice was interrupted by rain showers which hampered some of the work that the teams had planned for the day.
In the end, the veteran IndyCar driver covered 32 laps, with a best time of 40.0380s at a speed of 224.786mph.
Ganassi's Scott Dixon was second fastest but, let it be know that he completed only 6 laps on his entire day.
Panther's JR Hildebrand was third, followed by Dario Franchitti (Ganassi) while Marco Andretti (Andretti) was the last driver to make the top 5.
