According to an article published in the Edmonton Journal, the Edmonton race could return on the 2011 IndyCar series’ schedule.
The popular event was dropped last month because the road courses needed to be moved to keep the main runway of the Edmonton City Centre Airport active despite the race.

However, the newspaper quoted Mayor Stephen Mandel as saying a proposal is on the table that would take the cost off the hands of the taxpayers.
The City of Edmonton previously agreed to spend $5.5 million in sponsorship and $1.5 million in services over a three-year contract with the Montreal-based promoter, Octane Racing Group, the organiser of the Canadian F1 Grand Prix and promoter of the NASCAR race.
Members of the city council deliberated over the proposal on Monday night before tabling the issue in order to get more information.
