On the hopes of landing a seat to compete in this year’s IndyCar season Hinchcliffe commented:
“I’m still working hard to get our deal finalized. I’d like to think that the results from this test will certainly help and having been up against the entire IndyCar field, I’m hungrier than ever to compete at the top level!” he said.
The other Canadian in the field, Alex Tagliani, ended up 12th in the Sam Schmidt car, just ahead of Dania Patrick.
“This morning, we tried something and we were obviously pretty out to lunch. But we recovered this afternoon with a much faster car,” said Tagliani.
“It was a good test for us, overall, and I think we learned a lot this afternoon. There were some pretty interesting things that came out of it for us that are going to be really valuable for St. Petersburg,” he added.
