Group Octane Motorsports Events, who organised a very wet Formula 1 Grand Prix of Canada in June, was once again confronted with Mother Nature’s tantrum at the Edmonton Indy on Friday.
Downpours literally fell for hours on end in the Albertan capital leaving the promoters no choice but to cancel all afternoon activities and push them to this Saturday.
Teams and drivers will have an enormous work charge today therefore with both practice and qualifying to take care of in both the Indy Lights and Indy Car championships.
In addition, they will have to get accustomed to a new track layout in Edmonton and less time to prepare before qualifying.
“It was one of these days that you sometimes have to face in motorsports. Then you really only have one wish: for it to end as fast as possible,” said Octone’s director François Dumontier.
The weather should be nicer for the rest of the weekend in Edmonton with a cloudy sky but no showers on Saturday and a sunny day for the race on Sunday.
