In the midst of the pre-season rush, IndyCar officials have opted to move Texas oval tests further down the calendar, from March 13th to May 7th.
Since the series only travels to an oval circuit on round five, it was just a matter of good sense to delay the Texas tests.
"With our teams in the midst of preparations for the first four road/street events of the season, it is more beneficial to move the oval open test to early May," said Beaux Barfield, IndyCar's President of competition, on Autosport.com.
"Teams won't be forced to switch to an oval set-up then back to a road course set-up the week before the season opener under this new schedule.
"Additionally this will open the door for teams to [utilize] this time for one last road course test before the season opener."
