Team Penske’s Will Power ended up being the faster driver after the first ever practice session to have taken place in the streets of Baltimore after the session had been delayed due to work to be completed.
The Australian maintained his fast pace throughout the session with Dario Franchitti (Ganassi) the only other driver to have been close to his time with only a difference of just 0.0783s.
Power teammate Helio Castroneves ended up third just in front of both Andretti Autosport’s drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay and Mike Conway
The session did not go as well for Ganassi's Scott Dixon who clouted the outside barrier at Turn 4, ending his afternoon after just three laps and for Ryan Briscoe (Penske) who clipped the tyres on the way into the Turn 6 chicane.
