There are a lot of things happening in the world of the IZOD Indycar Series and, as Auto123.com had already revealed days ago, Rahal will go with Honda, Carpenter with George and Briscoe with Penske.

First of all, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLLR) has confirmed that it will run Honda engines for its two-car effort return in IndyCar in 2012. The former CART champion has a long history with the engine manufacturer that dates back to 1994 when Bobby Rahal's team originally introduced Honda power into the CART.

The team is working hard to make of its full-time return a success as RLLR has also announced that veteran team manager Tom Anderson - best known for his success at Ganassi in the 1990s - will become the team's president of racing operations, overseeing both the ALMS and IndyCar squads.

Ed Carpenter has also confirmed that he will run his own team next year along with his partners, former series chief Tony George and golf legend turned businessman Fuzzy Zoeller.

The team plans to undertake a full season in 2012, which would be Carpenter's first complete campaign since 2009. He has taken in only selected oval races since. The team is looking at all its options and will sign another driver to compete on the road circuits.

Meanwhile, Ryan Briscoe will remain part of an unchanged Penske line-up in next year's campaign.

The team confirmed that the Australian, whose future with the team had been in doubt, will partner Will Power and Helio Castroneves at the three-car squad.
