Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay, who had his share of bad luck during qualifying, worked his way up the file to win and action-filled IZOD IndyCar race in Baltimore.

Hunter-Reay was able to take the lead during a restart near the end of the race but nearly lost everything a little while later when he locked up on the way into the first corner and was lucky to avoid both the wall and losing a place to Simon Pagenaud.

The American was able to maintain the pace and finally crossed the finish line with a priority of more than 1.4 seconds over Team Penske Ryan Briscoe who had just passed Pagenaud.

Another good day for the Frenchman who finished in third.

Polesitter and series leader Will Power was comfortable in the lead until a light rain on Lap 18 made him decide to switch to vets. Unfortunately for him, the rain cleared quickly and the track began to dry immediately but, still, he decided to stay on the track with his rain tires.

Soon enough, Power found himself in 17th place, more than 48.8s behind the leaders. He was able to fight his way back to fifth, only to be hit by Rubens Barrichello on the second-last lap and drop two places. The Australian's lead over Hunter-Reay is now down to 17 points.
