Most of the 27 cars entered in the Honda Indy 200 will be on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this Thursday to conduct an official test and Sam Schmidt Motorsports has invited Simon Pagenaud for the occasion.
This session will provide teams with valuable information in preparation for the IndyCar event that will be held at the same venue on August 7.
Sam Schmidt Motorsports will put Frenchman Simon Pagenaud in the No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins car normally driven by Alex Tagliani as part of an audition for Honda, and to get a feel for what the open-wheel and sports car specialist could deliver as a full-time driver.
Pagenaud is the reigning American Le Mans series’ champion, and he finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June with Peugeot.
Sam Schmidt will also run Martin Plowman in the No. 17 AFS Racing entry in preparation for the Briton's three-race deal with SSM/AFS that kicks off at Mid-Ohio.
