Perhaps it was only a matter of time before it was created, but a company called Sheila's Wheels has just pumped the mobile safety market full of hot

air. Their new product, called Buddy on Demand, is an inflatable male passenger intended for use when the appearance of a front passenger is required.

It is intended to prevent road rage, carjacking and aggressive behavior at nighttime by giving the illusion of two front passengers in the vehicle as opposed to a lone female.

The company has determined that one in four females has been intimidated by such behavior when driving alone, and may benefit from the inflatable companion for safety. Two thirds of women admit to avoiding nighttime driving due to safety concerns, while over 80 percent say they feel safer driving with a companion.

The Buddy can be inflated when extra confidence is required, then deflated and placed into the glove-box when it isn't. Fay Goodman, personal safety expert from DriveSafe says: "The Buddy on Demand will hopefully go some way to make women feel safer behind the wheel." No comment was made regarding the possible outcome if a passenger were to come across an inflatable man in the drivers glove box, however.

Buddy on Demand is currently a prototype and not available for sale.  For more information visit www.ilovesheilas.com.
