Belgian driver Freddy Loix (Skoda Fabia) claimed maiden win on his own soil in Ypres Rally, sixth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Although he was forced to retire after an accident in the first journey, Juho Hanninen (Skoda) keeps first position in provisional classification, but team mate Jan Kopecky, second in Belgium, is now only three points behind the Finn.
Freddy Loix, who was able to run Ypres Rally with Skoda’s backing, and Kris Meeke (Peugeot) pulled away in front at the beginning of the race, before Meeke crashed out at the end of Day One, and left Loix alone in front.
Young belgian driver Thierry Neuville (Peugeot), who is also involved in Junior WRC this year, took 3rd position.
Le Mans driver Stephane Sarrazin was also at the start of the race, but the Frenchman crashed out in the very first special stage of the rally.
