Point standings’ leader Will Power will have to up his game if he wants to maintain his lead atop the IZOD IndyCar Series championship in view of his main rival Dario Franchitti’s oval experience.

Australian Power, who with two races left, is working hard to win his first championship.

He looked strong on a 1.5-mile oval for the second consecutive week, leading 83 laps in the Kentucky Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway until he lost four positions late in the 200-lap race when his car got pushed up the track inches from the wall while he was lapping a car.

The Australian wounded up eighth at the chequered flag while Franchitti, finished fifth closing the gap in the title chase to only 17 points.

Franchitti’s teammate Scott Dixon, always a strong contender on ovals, is 83 points back.

The IZOD IndyCar Series is travelling to Japan at Twin Ring Motegi where Power has never competed while Franchitti has finished second and third in his past two visits.

So, who will have the upper hand in the final stretch? All bets are on in what should be an exciting season finale.
