The Burke Lakefront Airport was one of the most exciting races in the CART/ChampCar years but reunification made it impossible for the venue to be on the 2009 schedule but promoters and IRL officials are working hard to get back in with nothing less then a doubleheader.
That's an idea currently being discussed between promoter/car owner Mike Lanigan, IndyCar's John Lewis and the folks at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport.
The week-end could be as follow: an oval race on Friday night, Indy Lights race and IndyCar qualifications at the Burke Lakefront Airport circuit Saturday and the road course event on Sunday!
People at Honda and Tony George have already shown interest in the project but, still, there are some challenges to be address like car and engine counts and television.
Cleveland hosted CART from 1982-2007 and hasn't hosted a race the past two years.
