Former Super Aguri Formula 1 driver Anthony Davidson was a guest of Panther Racing. Davidson was scheduled to test in the No 4 car two weeks ago at Infineon Raceway but injured his shoulder while riding a mountain bike.

GP2 series' driver Mike Conway is also being considered for a second IndyCar Series seat, should the team find the proper funding to expand for 2009.

Andretti Green and 7-Eleven have announced that they have agreed to a multi-year extension of their relationship. 7-Eleven, Inc. has been a long-time sponsor of the No 11 IndyCar Series entry piloted by Tony Kanaan.

Meanwhile, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced that Dad's Root Beer will be a sponsorship partner for the next race in Chicagoland but, more importantly, the company will also support financially the team through the 2009 season.

Missing from the entry for the Detroit IndyCar Series race were Pacific Coast Motorsports and Mario Dominguez. The team, which competed in seven races this season under the Visit Mexico sponsorship, is not expected to compete at the season finale at Chicagoland next weekend.

According to a rumour, former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos has signed a deal to compete in the IndyCar next season.
