Edmonton Grand Prix organisers are expected to sign today a long-term deal to become part of the IndyCar schedule for the next five years.
This deal would follow another agreement signed Thursday with officials from the Long Beach Grand Prix.
Several former Champ Car races are expected to be added to make up an 18-race calendar in 2009, including the Toronto Grand Prix which was just recently purchased by Andretti Green Promotions.
"We're looking at a 50-50 balance between oval races and street races (for 2009)," a high-ranking IRL official declared.
"Nine oval and nine street and airport events, like the one in Edmonton."
