Former IRL champion turned NASCAR driver, Sam Hornish Jr, will probably take part in the next Indianapolis 500 according to the latest move made by Penske Racing as it has announced that they have hired David Stremme as a test driver for its NASCAR Sprint Cup programme.
Speculation was raised on Tuesday by several publications, including NASCAR.com, that Hornish would interrupt his Sprint Cup career to drive a third Penske car at Indy.
Penske currently have three entries in the Indy 500 - the two regular cars for Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe and an extra No. 77 car with its driver listed as TBA.
Hornish won the Indy 500 in 2006 and is a three-time IRL IndyCar Series champion.
